Purpose of the new Regulations
The purpose of the new Building Regulations (Part P) is to
safeguard persons' safety against fire and injury from electrical
installations. Accordingly, the Council will always endeavour to
secure compliance with the Regulations and reserves the right to
take enforcement action in appropriate cases. A Building Regulation
Completion Certificate will not be issued unless a valid Electrical
Installation Certificate has been provided. If these procedures are
not followed, homeowners are likely to experience future
difficulties in selling their properties, and they may find that
their house insurance has been invalidated.
