The New Local Plan
The new Local Plan is being
produced in accordance with guidance introduced in the National
Planning Policy Framework in 2012. It replaces the portfolio of
documents that were to be produced under the Local Development
Framework system with one, single development plan document
containing strategic policies, general development management
policies, site allocations and the proposals map.
The Local Plan shall be
supported by:
- a suite of Supplementary
Planning Documents that will expand upon planning policy to provide
additional guidance and clarity for a particular topic area
- The Statement of Community
Involvement that details how documents and planning applications
will be consulted upon and how stakeholder involvement will be
sought
- The Local Development Scheme
that outlines the timetable for production of the Local Plan and is
available to download below.
- Annual Monitoring Reports that
attempt to measure the impact of Local Plan policies and maintain
the evidence base used to inform planning policy.
Under the old Local Development Framework process the Council
had undertaken a number of consultation exercises as part of the
production of the Core Strategy. This work will now directly inform
the production of strategic policies within the new Local Plan.
More information, including details of previous consultations on
the Core Strategy can be found on the Strategic Policies page.
