Site Assessment: Approximately half of this
brownfield site lies within the settlement boundary for
Gilsland. The site is well related to the existing built form
of the village, and is contained on one side by Poltross Burn, and
the other by the minor road leading to the A69. The eastern
half of the site is constrained as it is river floodplain.
However, there is scope for development on the western half of the
site, (up to 60% of the site). Gilsland has a good range of local
services including a primary school and a regular bus service
between Haltwhistle/Brampton/Carlisle.
