Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
This Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) aims
to provide an evidence base of potential land for housing
development, which will be used to inform site allocations and
strategic policies in the new Local Plan. It aims to identify all
suitable and available sites with the potential to meet housing
requirements up to and beyond the 15 year plan period for the
emerging Local Plan.
It is important to be clear that the SHLAA will
not in itself allocate land for housing development, and that sites
identified in the SHLAA will not automatically come forward for
development, or be guaranteed planning permission.
The emerging Local Plan shall do this, referring to the
information in the SHLAA to ensure the best choices for new housing
land across the district are made.
This is an updated version of the SHLAA. It has been opened up
to public consultation to show residents and other stakeholders
which land the Council feels has the potential for housing
development and could therefore be taken forward into the site
allocation process. The Council would welcome any comments you may
have on any of the sites presented in the SHLAA. The interactive
map can be used to view sites across the district. Alternatively,
each site can be viewed by settlement following the links below.
The full SHLAA report is also available for download.
