SHLAA - Stanwix Urban
Deliverable
Site Reference: CA24 - Land at Windsor Way
Location: Land at
Windsor Way, Carlisle
Housing Potential: Deliverable (Email
us about this site)
Site Assessment: This is a greenfield site
which lies within the urban area boundary. There are several
possible points of access including Windsor Way, Wolsty Close and
Drumburgh Avenue. The site is available, and well related to
the rest of the urban area. There is potential for the site
to be developed for housing whilst maintaining significant
separation of this part of Carlisle from Houghton.
No Potential
Site Reference: CA48 - Land at Tarraby
Location: Land at
Tarraby, Carlisle
Housing Potential: None (Email
us about this site)
Site Assessment: This is a greenfield site
which lies within the urban area boundary. The southern end
of the site is heavily constrained by the course of Hadrian's Wall
and associated Vallum, which is a designated World Heritage
Site. The north western part of the site is separated from
Carlisle, and there is no obvious access into the site apart from
the access road to Shortdale Farm ,which also serves the village of
Tarraby. This is a no through road, and is narrow, with acute
bends through the village. It is unlikely to be able to serve
an increase in traffic on the scale proposed. The northern
end of the site partially abuts CA 24, which has been considered as
having housing potential. However, there are also access
capacity issues with this site, as potential access is through
existing housing areas.
Site Reference: CA55 - Land at Dene Crescent-Belah School
Location: Land at
Dene Crescent /Belah School, Belah, Carlisle
Housing Potential: None (Email
us about this site)
Site Assessment: This site lies on the western
boundary of CA 14, which has been considered suitable for housing
development. However, it is currently designated as Primary
Leisure Area. Any increase in houses in this location will
bring increased demands for open space, and it is currently
considered that this area of open space should be retained.
