SHLAA - Thurstonfield
Deliverable
Site Reference: TH02 - OS No 6942 Chapel Lane
Location: OS No 6942
Chapel Lane Thurstonfield
Housing Potential: Deliverable (Email
us about this site)
Site Assessment: Small greenfield site
that relates well to the village. Though Thurstonfield has no
services itself, the argument could be made that this site could
support services in neighbouring Kirkbampton. It is therefore
considered that this site could have potential.”
No Potential
Site Reference: TH01 - Land Adj Garth Cottage
Thurstonfield
Location: Land Adj
Garth Cottage Thurstonfield
Housing Potential: None (Email
us about this site)
Site Assessment: The site lies just outside the
settlement boundary for Thurstonfield and abuts the boundary of the
edge of Carlisle district. Thurstonfield has no local services,
although there is a school in Kirkbampton which lies immediately to
the west. Due to the lack of services within the village, and the
distance from Carlisle, it is not considered a sustainable location
for new housing development.
Site Reference: TH03 - OS No 7269 Adj Field House,
Thurstonfield
Location: OS No 7269
Adj Field House Thurstonfield CA5 6HD
Housing Potential: None (Email
us about this site)
Site Assessment: This agricultural land is on
the edge of the settlement and leads out into the rural landscape
beyond. The road to this site is relatively narrow and may not be
able to cater for an increase in traffic in this area. This site is
very rural and should remain as such as, if future development were
to take place on this land, this could lead to much wider future
expansion of this settlement into the countryside beyond which
would not be desirable.
Thurstonfield has no local services, although there is a school in
Kirkbampton which lies immediately to the west. Due to the lack of
services within the village, and the distance from Carlisle, it is
not considered a sustainable location for the allocation of sites
for new housing development.
