New for Spring/Summer 2017 - We are pleased to announce that a new themed play area will be created on the waterfront in time for the summer season. Talkin Tarn also offers 120 acres of outdoor play and adventures with woodlands, forest trails and varied habitats to explore. The site has open access so plenty of opportunities to burn off energy and get in touch with your wild side!
The fully accessible 1.3 mile walking route around the tarn is by far the most popular walking route. However take time to explore further afield and you will discover woodlands and the many varied habitats of Talkin Tarn Country Park. Various colour coded walking routes are signed so why not pick up a leaflet from the notice board at the main entrance to the park.
The tarn also makes a great location for exploring the wider countryside on the extensive rights of way network.
TalkinTarn is a great base for exploring the quite country lanes around Talkin and Hallbankgate and into the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). So why not get on your bike and stretch your legs and discover the beauty of the local area and return to the tarn for a well-deserved slice of homemade cake in the tearoom!
