Disabled badge holders
Upon clearly displaying a valid blue disabled badge in a
vehicle, holders are entitled to
- Park without time limit within a residential disc parking zone.
- Park within any marked disabled bay. Please check traffic signs
for any time restrictions.
- Park on yellow lines for up to a maximum of 3
hours. You must also display your arrival time on a clock
disc. This does not apply where there are loading or unloading
restrictions indicated by traffic signs and one or two yellow
hashes on the kerb.
- Park for up to a maximum of 3 hours free of charge in Pay &
Display car parks owned by the City Council. You must also
display your arrival time on a clock disc. For stays of over 3
hours the normal daily charges apply. You may not return to the car
park within 1 hour of leaving.
The Blue Badge does not allow
- Parking when a time ban on loading or unloading is in
force;
- Parking in a loading Bay;
- Parking in Bus Stops, Bus Lanes, Cycle Lanes and Taxi
Ranks;
- Parking on Zebra Crossing (including zigzag lines)
or School 'Keep Clear' markings; or
- Stopping on a Clearway or parking where an obstruction would be
caused.
How to display a Blue Badge
The Blue Badge must be clearly displayed on top of the dashboard
with the front of the badge showing the wheelchair user symbol
facing forward. Details must be legible from the outside of the
vehicle. If you do not display your blue badge correctly we may
issue a parking fine.
