On-street
parking
Carlisle City Council operates a disc
zone parking scheme on behalf of Cumbria County Council.
Any motorist may park in a disc zone for a limited period without
charge, provided that a clock disc set to the time of arrival is
prominently displayed in the vehicle. Clock discs are available
free of charge from Council offices, Tourist Information Centres
and from various businesses throughout the district.
The amount of time you may park with a valid clock disc in a
disc zone may vary. Details of the time limit are indicated
on signs located near to each parking bay. It is the
responsibility of the driver to make sure that a disk is correctly
set, displayed and the vehicle is moved before the allowed time has
passed.
You may be issued with a parking fine if
- You park and fail to display a disc.
- You indicate a false time of arrival or subsequently change
it.
- You fail to remove the vehicle on the expiry of the permitted
stay time.
Permit holders and disabled badge holders are exempt from these
time restrictions. The permit or blue badge must be clearly on
display at all times to qualify for this exemption.
Parking near schools
There are no special arrangements allowing parents to set down
and pick up school children in any location. Parents choosing to
take their children to school by car must obey the parking
regulations in place.
This is true for resident parking bays and pay and display
parking bays as well as single yellow lines, double yellow
lines and the zig zag markings.
