Carlisle City Council operates a Disc zone parking
scheme on behalf of Cumbria County Council. This is signposted
on all the main entry routes into the city. Any motorist may park
in a disc zone for a limited period without charge, provided that a
clock disc set to the time of arrival is prominently displayed in
the vehicle. Clock discs are available free of charge from Council
offices, Civil Enforcement Officers on patrol, Tourist Information
Centres and from various businesses throughout the district.
City centre zone C limits parking to 1 hour. Most other areas in
the city have a 2 hour limit.
How to use the disc
- On parking the vehicle set the clock disc at the ‘time of
arrival’.
- Display the clock disc inside either the front windscreen or
side window that is nearest to the kerb. Ensure that it is clearly
visible from the outside of the vehicle.
- It is acceptable for the ‘time of arrival’ to be written on a
piece of paper and displayed instead of a clock.
- It is not acceptable for notes to be taken into account such as
‘Working in flower shop’.
Parking fines
You may be issued with a parking fine if
- You park and fail to display a disc.
- You indicate a false time of arrival or subsequently change
it.
- You park for longer than permitted.
Zone locations
The Residential parking scheme in Carlisle is divided into
several zones from A to H.
Zone A
Zone A includes the following streets:
Chatsworth Square, Chiswick Street, Compton Street, Currie
Street, Hartington Place, Howard Place, Strand Road, Warwick Road

Parking is limited to 2 hours, Monday to Friday 8.00am to
8.00pm and Saturday 8.00am to 6.00pm.
Zone B
Zone B includes the following streets:

There is no Parking on these streets without a valid residents
or visitor permit
Zone E
Zone E operates mainly within a 2 hour disc parking zone,
however there are a few streets that operate within a 1 hour disc
parking zone and includes the following streets:
Ashley Street, Bellgarth Road (1 Hour), Bridge Street, Bright
Street, Canal Court, Clift Street (1 Hour), Dixon Court, Duke
Street, Granville Road, Hawick Street, Head Street, Howard Street,
Isabella Street, John Street, Kendal Street, Lawson Street (1
Hour), Leatham Street, Morton Street, Newcastle Street, Newtown
Road (only 20 min Disc Zone outside shops), Peel Street, Port Road,
Potter’s Place, Rigg Street, Ruthella Street (1 Hour), Silloth

Parking is mainly limited to 2 hours, Monday to Friday 8.00am to

streets that allow disc parking for 1 hour or less.
Zone F

Parking is limited to 2 hours, Monday to Friday 8.00am to
8.00pm and Saturday 8.00am to 6.00pm.
Zone G
This Zone has not been introduced at present.
Zone H
Zone H operates withina 2 hour disc parking zone and includes
the following streets:
Adelaide Street, Brunton Avenue, Brunton Crescent, Eldred
Street, Furze Court, Furze Street, Grace Street, Greystone Road,
Irthing Street, Jackson Street, Jesmond Street, Margaret Creighton
