Parking fines
Parking fines (also known as parking tickets or Penalty
Charge Notices) are issued to vehicles that are parked in
contravention of the parking restrictions. Civil Enforcement
Officers employed by Carlisle City Council issue parking fines
using handheld computers. Once printed, these cannot be cancelled
at the roadside.
You must either pay the parking fine
or challenge the parking fine.
Parking fines are issued in accordance with Part 6 of
the Traffic Management Act 2004 (external link). They will
not result in a criminal record or points being added to a driving
licence.
Why we restrict parking
Parking restrictions are enforced in order to
- Improve road safety;
- Reduce congestion;
- Improve access to public transport; and
- Reduce commuter parking in residential areas.
