Contractor's Parking Permits

Contractor working for a residential client living within a Disc Zone

The contractor should be issued with a Visitor Permit from the resident of the property.

Contractor working for a business client situated within a Disc Zone

The contractor may be issued with a 'Contractor Permit'.

Guidelines on the issue of a Contractor Permit:

An application must be made at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of the work to enable Parking Services to process the request and allow time for a permit to be issued.

Consideration will only be given for one contractor permit per job or household.

Contractor Permits are only granted in circumstances where it is deemed essential for a commercial vehicle to be parked on site for the purposes of the work that is being undertaken.

In the event of a number of contractor’s working at the same property, a permit will be issued on a first come first served basis. Alternatively a ‘various’ permit may be issued which means that it does not relate to a particular vehicle. The onus will therefore be on the ‘project manager’ to decide who the permit is issued to on any given day. Various permits will not be reissued if lost or misplaced.

A contractor permit is granted for vehicles to be parked within 'Disc Zone' areas only unless otherwise agreed by Parking Services.

Please note we cannot reserve spaces or cone off areas.

A Permit application will be refused where it is believed that a parking concession is being requested for convenience purposes only. In this case, it is appropriate that equipment is unloaded in accordance with the loading / unloading policy and alternative parking is found elsewhere. For example, a pay and display car park.

To make an application for a Contractor Permit:

A request must be made in writing on company letter headed paper detailing the nature and duration of the work to be undertaken.

Details of the vehicle requiring the parking concession must be provided.

Proof of the job must be provided in conjunction with any written request. Proof of job is defined as an estimate, job sheet, invoices, plans etc.

Upon receipt of this information, consideration will then be given to the application.

Emergency Call Outs

Certain tradesman are subject to emergency call outs and may be unable to comply with the above procedure.

However, if a parking concession is required it is necessary to contact Parking Services to advise us of the situation.

If a parking concession is granted in these circumstances, the Civil Enforcement Officers will be notified about the relevant vehicle and the concession would last for up to a maximum period of 24 hours.

If the work will exceed this time frame then an application for a contractor permit must be made in the normal way.

It is the responsibility of the driver when leaving the vehicle to ensure it is parked correctly and that the permit is clearly displayed in the vehicle windscreen so that it can be validated.

A permit that is not displayed in a conspicuous manner may result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued.
