Open 4 Business Portal

Carlisle City Council is providing local businesses with free access to its local business support and grant portal provided by Open4Business. This is tailored for the Carlisle area and includes local, regional and national schemes.

Business can also search for funding relevant to their size and sector. To use the portal, you will first need to register with Open4Business.

Launch of £26m Industrial Hydrogen Accelerator Programme

This programme will provide funding for UK business-led innovation projects that can demonstrate end-to-end industrial fuel switching to hydrogen.

The registration deadline for Stream 1 is 7 July 2022 (14:00 BST). The registration deadline for Stream 2A is 9 June 2022 (14:00 BST).

MOD Education Support Fund

Grants are available to publicly funded schools, academies and free schools throughout the UK to mitigate the effects of significant mobility and/or deployment of their service communities.

The next round of the ESF will open to applications on 9 May 2022. The deadline for applications will be 30 September 2022.

Global Entrepreneurship Week UK

Annual UK-wide week of activities celebrating enterprise, and inspiring and encouraging people to showcase and develop their enterprise talent, and to turn their ideas into something real.

The programme operates annually.

Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF)

Public, private and third sector organisations in England can access capital grant funding to help new and existing heat networks move to low and zero carbon technologies, such as heat pumps, solar and geothermal energy.

The GHNF main scheme opened its first application round on 14 March 2022. This will be followed by quarterly rounds until the scheme closes in 2025.

Youth Music NextGen Fund - Round Three Now Open

Grants are available for the UK's young creatives to help them participate in the music industry.

Applications for the third round of the programme are now open. The deadline to apply is Monday 23 May 2022 (17:00 BST).

Funding for Projects Promoting Veganism in the UK and Overseas

Non-profit groups can now apply for grants to deliver projects which encourage people around the world to go vegan and stay vegan. The Vegan Society is a UK charity which exists to increase awareness of veganism for the benefit of people, animals and the environment.

The next deadline to apply is 30 June 2022.

LGA Opens Behavioural Insights Programme for 2022/23

Fisheries and Seafood Scheme for England Relaunched

This scheme delivers investments to safeguard the long-term sustainability, resilience and prosperity of the seafood sector across England.

Currently, applications can be made at any time. New areas of the scheme will be opened for applications for a defined period of time through funding rounds. The dates of these funding rounds will be announced in due course.

Funding for Projects that Promote the Arts Across the UK

£12m Fund to Boost UK Tech Firms Launching this Summer

Funding is being made available to help tackle challenges facing small UK tech firms and grow regional support networks to level up investment and innovations around the country.

Applications are expected to open in June 2022, with a deadline in August 2022. (These dates are merely indicative at this stage.)

Launch of £2.5m Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) R&D Competition

Through the Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) R&D Competition, the Government is providing innovation funding to support the development and demonstration of High Temperature Gas Reactor (HTGR) technology in the UK.

The deadline to Register to enter the competition is 16 May 2022 (14:00 BST).

New Fund Opens to Rid Local Streets of Chewing Gum

Administered by Keep Britain Tidy, and supported by some of the country’s major chewing gum producers, the Chewing Gum Task Force Grant Scheme is open to councils across the UK who wish to clean the gum off the pavements in their local areas and invest in long-term behaviour change to prevent gum from being dropped in the first place. 

Formal applications will be welcomed in a two week window between 9 May and 23 May 2022.

National Lottery Community Fund Invites Dialogue on Future Community Support

Groups and organisations across the UK have an opportunity to participate in a conversation on how the National Lottery Community Fund can best support UK communities to prosper and thrive going forward.

The National Lottery Community Fund, which offers funding through several different grant programmes, will continue to accept applications during the strategic review. The NLCF is the largest funder of community activity in the UK, awarding £3.4 billion through more than 72,000 grants in the last five years.

Youth Music Launches Trailblazer Fund for England

Funding is available to organisations in England to run projects for children and young people (aged 25 or under) to make, learn and earn in music through Youth Music's new Trailblazer Fund.

The deadline for Round 1 applications is 13 May 2022 (5pm).

Launch of UK Seafood Fund: Infrastructure Scheme
