Open 4 Business Portal

Carlisle City Council is providing local businesses with free access to its local business support and grant portal provided by Open4Business. This is tailored for the Carlisle area and includes local, regional and national schemes.

Business can also search for funding relevant to their size and sector. To use the portal, you will first need to register with Open4Business.

Funding for UK Charities Working in the Field of Breast Cancer

Grants are available to breast cancer charities in the UK that assist people affected by breast cancer and organisations that work on breast cancer research and prevention.  UK registered charities working in the field of breast cancer within the UK have until the end of May 2021 to submit their application to this annual fund.

Wolfson Foundation Bursaries for Hospice Staff

Bursaries available to hospice staff in the UK to improve the quality of care given to the patients in need of hospice and palliative care.  Bursaries can be used to cover fees for university accredited palliative care courses including degree, masters and PhD level programmes and modules from the same. Some palliative care conferences may also be included.  Once the budget for the Wolfson bursary programme has been fully allocated Hospice UK will cease to award further bursaries, until such a time as additional funds have been raised.

Support is still available from the Joint Sports Hardship Fund.

The Carlisle Sports Hardship and Restart Fund helps local clubs to ensure that a return to sporting activity is as safe as possible for volunteers and participants. We will continue to prioritise not for profit sporting organisations which have reducing financial resources resulting in hardship due to the pandemic.  

Support is still available from the Joint Sports Hardship Fund.

Safer Streets Fund

The Home Office (HO) are launching the third round of the Safer Streets Fund 2021/22 on 24 May. This round will focus on improving the safety of public places, with a particular focus on areas of potential concern to women and girls.

Grants are available for a wide range of projects that support the delivery of positive outcomes for blind and partially sighted people in the UK that are aligned to the priority areas of education, employment, engagement, and collaboration and sustainability.

Co-op Local Community Fund

Grants are available for small, locally based voluntary and community groups to support projects which benefit local communities around Co-op food stores and funeral homes across the UK or the Isle of Man.  Application deadline: 30/05/2021

Low Carbon Lake District Grants - Supporting you to reduce the carbon footprint of your community group or business

Grants are available for registered charities for specific projects or core activities that support literacy, numeracy, digital and additional skills for learning that are likely to assist employment prospects.  Closing date is Friday 30 April 2021.

Carlisle Educational Charity

Local students are being given the opportunity to apply for an educational charity grant.  The Carlisle Educational Charity provides grants to help the further education of young people from the Carlisle district under the age of 25.  All students currently undertaking, or about to undertake, a course in further or higher education, who live, or whose parental home is, within the boundaries of Carlisle City are eligible to apply for financial support. Students may apply each year of their course.  Applications forms must be completed and returned no later than Thursday 30 September 2021.

Cumbria Community Foundation - Cumbria Fund

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups working to tackle disadvantage and strengthen communities in Cumbria.  Grants of up to £10,000 can be provided for up to one year. Multi-year funding may be awarded for certain projects.

Pub is the Hub

Innovate UK Launches New Round of Innovation Loans

Businesses can apply for loans for innovative projects with strong commercial potential to significantly improve the UK economy.  Projects should aim to develop new products, processes or services believed to be significantly ahead of anything similar in the field. Proposals can come from any technology and any part of the economy. They must focus on commercialisation, growth or scale up. Priority is given to proposals likely to lead to growth, gains in productivity. The deadline for applications is 2 June 2021 (11:00 BST).
