ClimateLaunchpad: The Green Business Idea Competition - Immanent Deadline - 9 July 2021

Through this competition, aspiring entrepreneurs from across the world may transform their green ideas into global businesses.

Background

The competition is run and administered by Climate-KIC, and is organised by Association Climate-KIC, an Association duly incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands. The central team is based in the Netherlands is supported by national teams who organise the competition within their country.

This competition is supported by more than 100 partners from all across Europe, including companies such as Accenture, Bernard Schulte Ship management, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Hellenic Bank, Microsoft, PWC, Sparebank, Volvo and World Wide Fund.

Objectives of Fund

ClimateLaunchpad is an international green business idea competition which provides a platform for those who have great cleantech ideas, helping them to develop these ideas into start-ups with the potential for global impact.

Value Notes

Prizes in the National and Regional Finals differ per country and region. There there will also be prizes (cash or in kind) for the Global Grand Final winners. The main prize is new acquired skills and knowledge and networking opportunities to get a business thriving.

All prizewinners are responsible for any taxes, wire transfer costs and other possible costs related to receiving the prize.

Who Can Apply

Applications are welcome from the following:

  • Anyone who has a promising cleantech idea. The candidate may be a start-up, SME, researcher, student, public organisation, engineering company or even a combination of these.
  • Candidates may only apply within their own country.

Innovations are welcome from areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, food and agriculture, water, transportation, industrial technology.

This competition is opening to participants who are based in one of the following countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.

Restrictions

Interested parties should note the following restrictions:

  • The candidate should not have already been accepted into Climate-KIC Accelerator through the start-up in question.
  • The candidate may not apply if they have already been accepted into ClimateLaunchpad during a previous year.

Eligible Expenditure

Funding is intended to help fast track an innovation or idea into a business that will make a substantial environmental impact.

This competition is opening to participants who are based in one of the following countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.

How To Apply

2021 deadline: 9 July 2021.

Prospective candidates may only enter ClimateLaunchpad within their own country. They should apply by completing the official application form where they will answer questions such as what problem they are solving and what climate impact is expected to be made. There is no need for a business plan at this stage.

The submitted idea will remain solidly the property of the applicant who will retain full, exclusive ownership of their information and intellectual property rights. Any submitted idea will be used solely for the purpose of evaluating the application to ClimateLaunchpad.

The application in question will be reviewed and ranked accordingly by the National Jury of the country where they have applied. This jury will then select between seven and 20 business ideas for each country, who will then participate in the two day boot camps. Successful applicants will be invited by post.
