Dairy Futures Loan Company Ltd
Maximum value:
£ 100,000
Application deadline:

Background

This programme is provided by Dairy Futures Loan Company Ltd; a wholly owned trading subsidiary of Dairy Futures charity.

Objectives of Fund

Dairy Futures offers help to suitably skilled individuals with a good business plan, as they go through a significant expansion of a dairy business or begin a new dairy enterprise in their own right. Dairy Futures is intended to support those whose initial scale does not allow their business to be sustainable.

Loans are offered on the basis that sufficient capital is not available from other sources and this is the limiting factor to the success of the person(s) applying and their plans. In practice, this will be additional to money that can be secured from the commercial marketplace and not instead of.

Value Notes

Loans will be between £25,000 and £100,000 and for a maximum period of 10 years, however, the aim will be for as short a term as necessary, according to the business plan and the Directors of the loan company.

Who Can Apply

New and expanding dairy farmers may apply. Applications will be accepted from people who are eligible to work and run businesses in the UK. The land farmed can be in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Applications may come from a single individual or jointly from more than one person.

Help will be offered to tenant farmers, typically early on in their tenancy, or when starting a new dairy farming enterprise, including those entering into a contract or share farming agreement, as they go through the set up or expansion phase.

Restrictions

Established dairy farming businesses, running a commercial dairy enterprise for more than 10 years and those with owned land above 20ha (50 acres) are not eligible for support. These established businesses should find technical and business support available from DairyCo and other existing bodies.

Diversification and added-value enterprises are outside the scope of this charity's work.

Eligible Expenditure

Loans will typically be offered for financing breeding stock (including cows in milk), parlours, sheds, and feed or slurry storage, but not for purchase of machinery or vehicles.

Location

United Kingdom
