UK film and screen content will reach an international audience over the coming years, with £21 million of additional government funding.
The Government has confirmed that its UK Global Screen Fund will be extended for three years with additional funding of £21 million. This new funding is expected to support the industry to continue growing the economy and providing high wage, high skilled jobs for people in the UK.
The Fund supports content made by independent UK film and screen companies exporting to markets around the world. It provides grants for business development, co-production, and international distribution.
Eligible screen content includes feature-length and episodic fiction, documentary and animated content for film and television, as well as interactive digital projects with narrative content (‘interactive narrative games’) for distribution via digital platforms.
The Fund’s International Co-production strand has recently reopened. Eligible companies can apply for grants of up to £300,000 towards ‘minority’ feature film co-productions, which are co-produced with international partners; and television co-productions (whether ‘minority’ or ‘majority’ in nature) in the animation and documentary genres.
Independent screen sector companies registered and centrally managed in the UK may apply. Consideration will be given to where companies are based, where projects are made and how projects reflect the culture and talent of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the English regions outside Greater London.
The International Co-production strand closes to new applications on 26 July 2022.
How To Apply
The International Co-production strand is open for applications from 17 May 2022 until the deadline on 26 July 2022.
The International Distribution and International Business Development strands are currently closed, however, they will relaunch in the coming months.
