Universal Credit Advice

Universal Credit will become live on 25th July 2018 for benefit claimants in the Carlisle area. Universal Credit is assessed and administered centrally by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

What does this mean for you?

The following benefits will transfer to Universal Credit:

  • Income Support
  • Income-Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-Related Employment Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit

From 25th July 2018, if you are making a new claim or have a change of circumstance whilst claiming any of the above benefits, you may be asked to make a Universal Credit claim.

How do I apply?

Universal Credit is an online only application process. You will require an email address to create an account and proceed with your claim. Please see the help and advice section below if you need help to apply. Click Here to go to the Universal Credit application page.

We can provide advice on the best way to budget and get additional help if you are struggling with debt

Benefit Advice Service

Free confidential advice on all benefit. Assistance including, assessing entitlement, challenging decisions and representation at tribunals.

I’m worried about losing my home

Homelessness Prevention and Accommodation Services

Information and assistance for any housing and homelessness issues. We can provide emergency accommodation and crisis prevention support. If you are at risk of losing your home within 56 days please contact us directly.

A referral can be made by CLICKING HERE. For telephone advice call 01228 817428 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Friday.
