Markets

There are several markets in Carlisle which are operated by or on behalf of Carlisle City Council.

These include: -

City Centre Farmers Market: Held on the first Friday of every month from 10am until 4pm on English Street in the City Centre. Details can be obtained by visiting Made in Cumbria or contacting by Telephone 01539 732736.

Rosehill Farmers Market: A monthly Farmers Market is operated at Rosehill, close to Junction 43 of the M6. Borderway Farmers Markets are held in the Exhibition Hall, Borderway Mart, Carlisle on the second Saturday of the month between 9.30am and 1pm.

Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers' Mart based in Longtown, Cumbria was founded in 1926 by a group of local farmers and is now the largest market in the UK for sales of sheep.

 

Carlisle Market Hall

The Market Hall, Carlisle, one of the few covered Victorian Markets remaining in the Country has a wide variety of stalls, with everything from fresh meat and veg, haberdashery, clothes, florists, stationery and much more. The Market has two cafés offering food. The Market is open from Monday to Saturday (including bank Holidays) from 9am till 5pm. There are over a hundred units available to let.
