Working within a busy team, and responsible to the Principal Health & Housing Officer, the post holder will be required to perform a wide range of Environmental Health duties. You will be required to undertake Food, Water, and Environmental Sampling; inspect premises subject to licensing/permitting requirements, preparing written reports and risk assessments; investigation of complaints; maintaining and calibrating monitoring equipment; and advising businesses and public on matters relating to Environmental Health.
The ideal candidate needs to have a basic grounding in regulatory type work and be able to interpret and implement key legislation. Although the person specification requires specific qualifications relevant to the field of environmental health, applications will be considered from those with a strong scientific background, experience in regulatory enforcement or individuals with higher level qualifications in animal welfare. Full training for the role can be provided.
The role will also require you to inspect and enforce premises licensed under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. Candidates with experience in animal welfare would be advantageous.
The post will be full time, 37 hours per week and may include evening and weekend work. The post holder will therefore be expected to work flexibly depending on the needs of the job.
