Bitts Park play area

Bitts Park play area

Bitts Park play area was badly damaged by flood water in December 2015 and is closed to the public.

The flood water penetrated the electronic and mechanical components of the splash zone and lifted the safety surfacing across the site. The safety of children using the site is paramount and we had no option but to take steps to remove damaged equipment.

Work has started on the repair work and some of the smaller items of equipment have been installed. As the work is weather dependent it’s difficult to say a finish date as this stage. We’re hoping to have it open by late summer. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Bitts Park’s grounds are still open and the paths and open spaces are still accessible.

Urban Adventure is back up and running and the tennis courts are open to the public too.

Our other parks and open spaces are open too and we’d encourage residents with families who want to use play facilities to use alternative sites such as Hammond’s Pond or Talkin Tarn Country Park. Both have cafes and provide activities for children.
