Carlisle Elections

Carlisle City Council elections were held on Thursday 3 May 2018.

Elections were held in 17 of the city’s 22 wards:

Brampton; Belah; Belle Vue; Botcherby; Castle; Currock; Dalston; Denton Holme; Harraby; Longtown & Rockcliffe; Morton; St Aidan’s; Stanwix Urban; Stanwix Rural; Upperby; Wetheral and Yewdale.

The total number of eligible voters was 75,311. There was a 32.17% overall turnout (24,228 votes cast).

Prior to the election, the composition of the Council was: 26 Labour Councillors, 21 Conservative Councillors, 4 Independents and 1 Liberal Democrat Councillor.

The composition of the Council after the 2018 election is: 25 Labour Councillors, 22 Conservative Councillors, 4 Independents and 1 Liberal Democrat Councillor.
