Following the additional government advice regarding social distancing and mass gatherings, we’ve taken steps to delay the spread of Coronavirus and will divert our resources to critical services.
We will continue to provide services, ensuring that we’re doing all we can to support our residents and local communities. We are working with partners on the response to this emergency, focusing on the needs of the most vulnerable.

An update on other services is as follows:
Customer Contact Centre update
We have changed the way our customers can contact us and are restricting access to the Civic Centre Customer Contact Centre. This is to minimise risk to those using the contact centre - both customers and our staff.
We’re reassuring our local communities that we’re still here to support them. They are advised to phone us on 01228 817200 or email [email protected] and help will be available.
Everything possible is being done to ensure we can continue to provide vital council services to everyone. We are constantly reviewing our processes and will always endeavour to provide the best service possible in line with government advice.
Our shopmobility scheme reopened on Monday 6 July.
The scheme, based in The Lanes Shopping Centre, was temporarily closed during the coronavirus lockdown. Its usual opening hours are 10am and 4pm, Monday - Friday.
Based on level two of The Lanes car park, it provides powered scooters and wheelchairs (both manual and powered) for people with mobility difficulties, to help them shop and use the facilities in Carlisle city centre.
To use the service there is a charge of £2 per day. Alternatively there are memberships options - £5 for six months or £10 for a year.
We're working with partners to support local communities across Carlisle and Cumbria, and particularly vulnerable and isolated people, during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
