Storm Hector - recycling and parks advice

Refuse and recycling collections:

High winds are affecting the county today (Thursday 14 June 2018).

Carlisle City Council is continuing to collect kerbside refuse, garden waste and recycling but is advising residents to:

• Help reduce litter by making sure containers are closed and secure;
• Consider keeping hold of your recycling and either placing it out on your next scheduled collection in labelled bin bags or take it to a recycling bring site. A list of sites and locations is available at: https://www.carlisle.gov.uk/…/bins-and-recy…/recycling-sites

Due to the high winds and to minimise litter, the council’s street cleaners will work alongside the recycling crews to help tidy up the streets.

Parks and open spaces:

Due to the high winds and the danger of debris falling, Carlisle City Council is advising visitors to their parks and green spaces to avoid walking or parking near any trees. The council is checking all reports of fallen branches and trees, but recommends that visitors stick to open spaces until the wind has died down
