Upperby Gala

This year’s Upperby Gala is set to be a wheelie great family event.

The programme for the popular community gala will include dramatic twists and turns by a BMX stunt rider, a mountain bike trick rider and freerunners. Some of the Savage Skills performers have featured on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Organised by Carlisle City Council, Upperby Gala, will provide fun for all the family on Bank Holiday Monday (29 May), between 1pm and 4pm.

The free event will be held at Hammond’s Pond. This year’s programme will include a vintage vehicles display and hands on activities from Carlisle College and Tullie House.

There will also be local charity stalls and the chance to sample sports activities.

Other activities include children’s entertainers, a fun fair, an owl magic display, a model railway and much more.

The Upperby Gala has free admission and will open between 1pm and 4pm. Food stalls will be providing refreshments throughout the event.

  • Hammond's Pond is in the south of Carlisle. There is vehicular access and free parking from the park entrance off Blackwell Road. Vehicular access and parking at the Buchanan Road entrance is restricted to vehicles with permits/disabled access only.
  • Pedestrian access is from Blackwell Road, Buchanan Road, Henderson Road and Scalegate Road.
