Upperby Gala

This year’s Upperby Gala will include a showcase performance by Jolan, The Voice Runner-Up.

The West Cumbrian singer will headline the community event, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Organised by Carlisle City Council it will provide fun for all the family on Bank Holiday Monday (30 May), between 1pm and 4pm.

The free event will be held at Hammond’s Pond. This year’s programme will include a Vintage Vehicles Parade and hands on activities from Carlisle College and Tullie House. 

There will also be local charity stalls, the chance to sample sports activities and try out an Army Assault Course.

Live music by local bands will entertain the crowds throughout the day. Other activities include children’s entertainers, a fun fair, an owl magic display, a model railway and much more.

The Upperby Gala has free admission and will open between 1pm and 4pm. Food stalls, including Lakeland Steaks and J & M Catering, will be providing refreshments.

Hammond's Pond is in the south of Carlisle. There is vehicular access and free parking from the park entrance off Blackwell Road. Vehicular access and parking at the Buchanan Road entrance is restricted to vehicles with permits/disabled access only.

Pedestrian access is from Blackwell Road, Buchanan Road, Henderson Road and Scalegate Road.
