A new free music event will be held in Carlisle city centre this May.
Within the Walls is produced and operated by Mighty Boof Promotions with support from Carlisle City Council.
It will be held in Carlisle’s pedestrianised area on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May.
The event aims to showcase Carlisle acts and other Cumbrian artists across two days. Any artist or band who would like to take part is asked to send a demo to [email protected]
It is open to all genres but only original material artists. The closing date for applications is Saturday 2 April 2016. If you are a venue and you want to get involved, please get in touch too.
Danny Maudling, Mighty Boof Promotions, said:
“Mighty Boof has always been mainly about supporting local artists giving them a stage to play on and the chance to support major touring artists when we are promoting them and so it is great to be able to bring this event to Carlisle this summer. It is a huge platform for local artists to play directly in their city centre and as the event grows every year we will look involve other venues in the city and hopefully make one big weekend of music.”
Cllr Anne Quilter, Portfolio holder for Culture, Leisure & Young People, added:
“We’re delighted to support the Within the Walls music event. It will be a great opportunity to showcase live local artists and bands all within Carlisle city centre. It will also be another reason to visit the city over the May Bank Holiday weekend and will support local businesses and attractions within the area.”
