Equality and Diversity

Equality Policy and equality objectives

The Equality Policy sets out the Council’s approach to equality. It includes new equality objectives for 2016-2019. The policy ensures that the Council continues to meet the requirements of the Equality Act (2010), identifies how we can build on our achievements and continue to promote equality.  You can view the Equality Policy in the downloadable documents section of this page.

Action Plan and Annual Report

Our Action Plan gives details of what actions we are taking to achieve our equality objectives and promote equality.  We publish information about the diversity of the Council's workforce and service users in our Annual Report.  For further information about the Council's work, please see the downloadable pdf documents on this page. Equality profiles for each district in Cumbria have been created by the Cumbria Intelligence Observatory.

Gender Pay Gap

Our Gender Pay Gap information can be found in the downloadable pdf documents on this page.  For further information about gender pay please visit the Government's Gender Pay Gap Overview website.

How to report hate crime

Hate crimes are where a person is targeted because of hostility or prejudice towards their disability, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation or transgender status.  You can find out more about where to report hate crime on the Cumbria Police website or True Vision website.

The Readspeaker speech system is used on our website to enable visitors to hear the content of pages. At the bottom of each page, there is a 'Listen' link which will open Readspeaker. The web page can then be listened to in whole or part by using different controls to activate the Readspeaker speech.
