Equality Policy and equality objectives


The Equality Policy sets out our approach to equality and includes the equality objectives for 2020-2024. The policy identifies how we meet the requirements of the Equality Act (2010) and promote equality. You can view the Equality Policy in the downloadable documents section of this page.


Annual Equality Report and Action Plan


Our Annual Report has information about the diversity of the Council's workforce and service users. Our Action Plan gives details of the actions we are taking to achieve our equality objectives. You can view this report and plan in the downloadable documents section of this page. The Cumbria Intelligence Observatory has equality profiles for each district in Cumbria. The Annual Equality Report 2018/19 and Annual Equality Report 2019/20 are not in an accessible format, to request an accessible format please contact [email protected]

How to report hate crime


A hate crime is any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim, or anybody else, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards someone’s:

  • race
  • religion
  • sexual orientation
  • transgender identity
  • disability

You can report hate crime on the Cumbria Police website or True Vision website.
