Funding for grassroots youth organisations based in England which have suffered in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

02 July 2021/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

The Covid Resilience Fund is provided through a partnership between the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust and UK Youth.

The funding aims to ensure that grassroots youth organisations that have suffered due to the pandemic have the resources required to reopen or bring their level of delivery back to pre-Covid levels and ensure they have the financial means to weather future disruptions.

Grants of up to £50,000 will help facilitate the reopening and continuation of youth provision to pre-pandemic levels. The fund will not award a grant more than 75% of an applicant’s pre-COVID annual income.

The grant can be spent on essential business expenditure that will be incurred between 1 August 2021 and 31 January 2022, such as staff salaries and fixed/operational costs, including:

  • Rent.
  • Utility and insurance costs.
  • Facility or necessary equipment costs that will not be capitalised in the accounts.
  • Core staffing costs (including youth workers).
  • Equipment to ensure compliance with public health requirements.
  • Professional fees (e.g. accountancy).
  • Other basic expenses (e.g. travel, marketing, stationary, activity resources).

Applications can be made for unrestricted funding.

Organisations that are based and deliver work in England, with a turnover of less than £250,000 can apply.

Centres that are temporarily closed due to COVID-19 may also apply.

Commenting, Lindsay Marsden, Director of External Relations at UK Youth, said:

“The last 18-months have been devastating for the youth sector and the young people they work tirelessly to support.

“As well as providing this vital funding, we are encouraging all youth organisations to take up UK Youth’s wider offer of support. Each year we provide critical support, training and resources to youth organisations and youth workers to complement our work in distributing funding. The UK Youth Movement is open to all and free to join.”

There is a short application window.

Applications will be accepted from 1 July 2020 to 18 July 2021 (midnight).
