Funding for Veterans’ Mental Health Portfolio Projects (UK)

03 June 2021/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

The Armed Forces Covenant Trust has launched the Veterans’ Places, Pathways and Peoples programme which is funded through the Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

The Trust is offering a total of eight two-year grants of between £600,000 and £800,000 as follows:

  • One portfolio grant will be awarded each in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Seven grants will be awarded across England regions.

The funding is intended for registered charities to convene and curate a portfolio of local veteran community focused projects; develop stronger partnerships to give more veterans better access to seamless support to address mental wellbeing needs. The funding will look to support work aimed at reducing suicide risks amongst vulnerable veterans, supporting veterans to gain skills and confidence, and (non-clinical) mental wellbeing interventions.

Grants will support most things required to run the project such as staffing, line management costs as well as costs of training or supporting volunteers. The funding will not cover capital costs for refurbishing or equipping offices, community spaces or other venues used by veterans nor will it cover large equipment purchases.

Applications will be accepted from registered charities that specifically support Armed Forces communities and have been registered for at least three years at the time of their application.

A webinar will be held on 24 June 2021 which will provide an overview of the programme and an opportunity to ask questions. Places are limited and registration is required.

There is a two-stage application process. The first step is to complete a short form for organisations intending to apply to the programme to be a Portfolio Lead.

The deadline for stage one intention to apply forms is 23 July 2021.
