Grants are available to provide outdoor learning training and equipment to schools and early years providers in England, Wales and Scotland.

Background

The Local School Nature Grants Scheme project is funded by six charitable trusts which receive their funding from People’s Postcode Lottery.

The trusts are: People’s Postcode Trust, Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, Postcode Places Trust, Postcode Society Trust, Postcode Local Trust or Postcode Community Trust.

Objectives of Fund

The aim of this fund is to promote outdoor learning among young children by providing schools and early years providers with outdoor resources and training. Successful applicants will include children in their decision making, whilst incorporating local communities.

Value Notes

Grants provide an assortment of nature equipment up to the value of £500 and a two hour training session.

Note: the scheme does not provide cash grants.

Who Can Apply

The following are eligible to apply:

  • Nurseries and other early years providers.
  • Pre-schools.
  • Primary schools.
  • Secondary schools.

Applicants must be employed by the school. Applications on behalf of the school from PTA's, Governors, 'Friends of' groups will not be accepted.

Eligible Expenditure

Successful applicants will receive an assortment of nature equipment up to the value of £500 along with a two-hour training session.

Eligible equipment include:

  • Bird boxes.
  • Bee hotels.
  • Gardening equipment.
  • Pollinator kits.
  • Wildlife watching kits.
  • Outdoor wear for adults and children.

England, Wales and Scotland.

How To Apply

There are four funding rounds in 2021.

The deadline for Round 4 applications is 12 November 2021 with notification of decisions by the end of November.
