Bursaries available to hospice staff in the UK to improve the quality of care given to the patients in need of hospice and palliative care.
The Wolfson bursaries for Hospice staff aim to improve the quality of care given to patients, their carers and families.
The programme aims to support the professional development of individual staff, significantly increasing their expertise in the work they do.
Bursaries can be used to cover fees for university accredited palliative care courses including degree, masters and PhD level programmes and modules from the same. Some palliative care conferences may also be included.
All applicants must be working in a hospice that is a member of Hospice UK as either a:
- Nurse
- Healthcare Assistant
- Doctor
- Allied Health Professional
- Social Worker.
Individuals can apply for a maximum of 50% of course or module fees, up to £1,500 in any one year and a maximum of £3,000 in any three-year period .
A typical bursary to attend an eligible conference would be 50% of the conference fee or £75 per day, whichever is the lower.
Applications must be received at Hospice UK at least one month before the start of the course, conference or module.
How To Apply
The application must be endorsed by a relevant manager of the applicant's employing organisation with a statement (no more than 200 words) explaining why this course or conference is significant in improving the applicant's own personal skills and development and the services offered by the employing organisation.
Once the budget for the Wolfson bursary programme has been fully allocated Hospice UK will cease to award further bursaries, until such a time as additional funds have been raised.
