16 August 2017 / Categories: Events Protecting your Business from Cyber Crime - Learn from Experts Carlisle Ambassadors, Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner and Cumbria Constabulary are joining forces to host an event with Get Safe Online to raise cyber awareness amongst business community and provide them with easy to follow education to protect themselves from cyber criminals. It will take place on Thursday 28th September between 10:00am-12:00pm at The Halston in Carlisle. A number of cyber security experts will be presenting at the event from organisations including Cumbria Police, Get Safe Online, Lloyds Bank and Kaspersky Lab. BOOK YOUR FREE PLACE HERE The event will offer education and support for businesses on how they can pro-actively protect themselves from cyber-attacks as well as improve their security practices. It will also include guidance towards Cyber essentials, ISO27001 and advice on how businesses can prepare themselves for the forthcoming GDPR legislation in 2018. Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall said: “Keeping safe online is everyone’s business. We all will have seen the recent reports of ransomware affecting businesses and organisations. When I have been speaking to business people they have asked what do they need to do to protect their business from either cybercrime or improve information security that is why I am pleased to be hosting the cyber Awareness Event to help the business community.” There will be an opportunity to discuss and ask questions at the end.
