Background
The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), funded by Sport England and supported by UK Coaching and EMD UK, is providing training, resources and tools to help applicants return to work through the ReTrain to Retain programme.
Objectives of Fund
The programme seeks to:
- Provide support for 50,000 people returning to working and volunteering in sport and physical activity.
- Support 10,000 self-employed people and small businesses to get back on their feet after the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Provide support for 500 employers to reduce the operational costs of re-opening and addressing skills shortages.
Value Notes
The programme will cover 100% of the costs of the applicant's training and qualifications through ReTrain.
Who Can Apply
Retrain to Retain is designed to support individuals working in the following roles:
- Assistant Swimming Teacher
- Entry Manager
- Fitness Instructor
- General Manager
- Group Exercise Instructor
- Lifeguard
- Personal Trainer
- Pilates Instructor
- Pool Plant Operative
- Recreation Assistant
- Senior Manager
- Sports Coach
- Sports Coaching Assistant
- Strength and Conditioning Trainer or Coach
- Swimming Teacher
- Yoga Instructor
Additional support will be provided for people who:
- Live or work in England.
- Are currently working in or have worked (paid or voluntary) in the sport and physical activity sector.
- Are currently unemployed or have had their working or volunteering hours reduced.
- Live in an area of lower socioeconomic deprivation (LSEG).
- Work or volunteer or have worked and volunteered working with underrepresented groups such as socially diverse communities, disabled people, or people with long term conditions.
