Opened in 1932 as a memorial to the fallen of the Great War of 1914 - 1918, this ' natural' park extends upstream along the sinuous River Eden from Eden Bridge

Rickerby Park can be accessed from Eden Bridge, through the picturesque Eden Bridge Gardens. There are both pedestrian and vehicular access points off the Brampton Road, the latter leading to a small car park within Rickerby Park. There is also vehicular access from Linstock.

Pedestrian access is also from St Aidan's Road across the suspension bridge.

Facilities

Rickerby Park is a natural park in the old landscape tradition. There are footpaths, and a car park, with a riverside walk.

The parkland is dotted with mature trees, beneath which cattle and sheep graze the sweet pasture grasses. A riverbank path follows the sweeping bends of the Eden, and by crossing the Memorial Bridge you can complete a circular walk back to the city centre on the opposite bank.

The Hadrian's Wall National Trail runs through Rickerby Park via the suspension bridge.

Park Opening Times

Rickerby Park is open all day every day.

Please note that livestock are loose in this park - please keep dogs under control.
