Applications Open for Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Energy, Environment & Climate

24 May 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Small non-domestic property owners, eg landlords and those with properties in the private sector, in England or Wales, may be eligible for money off low carbon heating technologies.

The Government is providing grants to encourage property owners to install low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps, through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). These grants are intended to help property owners overcome the upfront cost of low carbon heating technologies.

Applicants may be awarded:

  • £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump.
  • £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler.
  • £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump.

Small non-domestic property owners, eg landlords and those with properties in the private sector, may qualify for support. Homes will also be eligible. The property must be in England or Wales. To be eligible for the scheme, the commissioning date of the heating system must be on or after 1 April 2022.

The grant will only cover biomass boilers in rural locations and in properties that are not connected to the gas grid.

Installers will apply for the grant on behalf of the property owner. The value of the grant will be discounted off the price paid.

The scheme is now open for grant applications and payments. It will run from 2022 to 2025.

How To Apply

The scheme is now open for grant applications and payments.
