Funding for not-for-profit organisations, most of whom will hold collections that are accessible to the public, to develop or refresh their work in response to the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Founded in 1903, Art Fund is the national fundraising charity for art. It exists to help protect and enrich the UK’s museum and gallery collections and to ensure that as many people as possible can access and enjoy them.

Now in its fourth year, the Reimagine grants programme is providing grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 from a total budget of £1.8 million. Reimagine grants have been developed in response to the unique challenges presented by Covid-19.

The funding is intended to help organisations reimagine their approach to engagement, not only to audiences and communities, but also how engagement relates to other areas of the organisation’s work. Projects should be creative or innovative, context-specific, impactful and engaging.

The funding is ‘comprehensive’ and should cover the majority of costs associated with delivering creative projects.

The grants can be used for a number of different things, including:

• Cover existing staff.
• Bring back furloughed staff
• Hire contract or freelance support for the duration of the project.
• Some equipment costs and improvements to existing buildings, sites, collections and infrastructure.

Applications will be accepted from formally constituted, not-for-profit organisations based in the UK, including:

• Public museums or galleries.
• Heritage sites.
• Historic houses or buildings.
• Arts-focused archives.
• Libraries.
• Agencies.
• Festivals.
• Professional networks.
• Registered charities.
• Community Interest Companies (CICs).
• Universities.

Applications can be made as a single institution, in a partnership, or with a collective.

Priority will be given to organisations not currently working on projects funded by the Art Fund.

There is only one funding round in 2022.

The deadline for applications is 17:30 on 12 September 2022.

There is one funding round in 2022. The application window opens on 4 July and closes at 17:30 on 12 September 2022 with notification of decisions by early December 2022.
