Arts Council England's National Lottery Project Grants Programme Reopens with New Guidelines

Funding to support arts, museums and libraries projects and promote engagement with the arts across England.

Individual artists, community and cultural organisations can now apply to the National Lottery Project Grants programme under its refreshed guidance.

The changes have been made to better align with the Council’s new strategy, ‘Let’s Create’, which includes the four investment principles:

  • Ambition and quality - ensuring creative work links to wider aims and investing in professional development.
  • Dynamism - investing in leadership and governance that inspires positive change.
  • Environmental responsibility - embedding environmental thinking into every aspect of work and projects.
  • Inclusivity and relevance - creating a cultural sector that is relevant to more people and draws on talent from all communities.

Grants of £1,000 to £100,000 are available for projects lasting a maximum of three years. The funding is for projects that are focused on one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Music.
  • Theatre.
  • Dance.
  • Visual arts.
  • Literature.
  • Combined arts - including festivals and carnivals.
  • Museum practice (accredited or unaccredited).
  • Libraries (for activities that deliver against at least one of the Universal Library Offers including: Creativity and Culture; Reading; Information and Digital; Health and Wellbeing).

Under the new guidelines, applications for £30,000 and under are expected to receive a decision within 8 weeks, while applications for £30,000 and over are expected to receive a decision in at least 12 weeks.

Applicants are encouraged to secure match funding of at least 10%.

Applications can be made at any time.

 

How To Apply

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Applications are made using Arts Council England’s Grantium system.

  • Applications for £30,000 or under are expected to receive a decision in up to 8 weeks.
  • Applications for more than £30,000 are expected to receive a decision in at least 12 weeks.
