Asda Foundation - U18 Better Starts Grants

Children & Young People

03 October 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Grants for local organisations in the United Kingdom to support activities for children under 18 years old to improve their lives and transform the community.

The Asda Foundation, set up in 1988, supports a range of good causes around the UK, including support to charities, playgroups and football teams.

Community Champions are Asda Colleagues based in Superstores who work alongside the local community to build relationships ensuring support for various projects, groups and charities in the local area.

The U18 Better Starts Grant supports a wide range of activities and projects to improve the lives of under 18-year-olds in the UK and there are four themes for applicants to choose from:

  • Supporting Essentials: to ensure there is no hungry child and basic essentials are provided.
  • Being Active: to enable every child has the opportunity to be active, be part of a team, exercise and feel like they belong.
  • Improving Wellbeing: activities to support a child's mental health, to encourage creativity, attend a group and feel like they belong.
  • Celebrating and Bringing Children Together: enable under 18s to celebrate what matters to them within communities.

The U18 Better Starts Grant aims to give children under 18 years old the best start in life by tackling poverty, enabling inclusion and enhancing wellbeing.

How To Apply

The closing date for Round 3 applications is 11 November 2022.

Applications should be submitted at least six weeks before the activity to give enough processing time.

The local Community Champion should be contacted to discuss the grant and to check eligibility. Submission forms are available from the Community Champion.

The following should be submitted with the completed application form:

  • Bank statement/paying in slip.
  • Group documents e.g. constitution, club rules, etc.
  • Digital signature declaration (if not providing a wet signature).
