Biffa Award Announces £2.5m Grant Opportunity to Mark its 25th Anniversary

Funding to support a project which will have a long-term impact for cultural facilities or biodiversity in England or Northern Ireland.

In celebration of its 25th year of awarding community and environmental grants, Biffa Award is offering one organisation in Northern Ireland or England a major grant for an innovative and sustainable project in areas of importance to the Fund.

Fully constituted charitable or not-for-profit organisations may apply, providing they are eligible for enrolment and registration with the Landfill Communities Fund regulator, ENTRUST.

Applicants must source at least 10% match funding. Although there is no ceiling limit on the maximum value of the project, priority will be given to proposals where Biffa is the majority funder.

Projects must be located within 15 miles of a significant Biffa Operation or active Biffa Landfill Site and within 10 miles of any licenced landfill site. An eligibility checker can be found on the Biffa Award website.

Funding activities must align with one (or both) of the following themes:

  • Cultural - Create, to restore, modernise and improve facilities such as cultural, heritage or visitor centres to engage and encourage tourists and/or day visitors.
  • Biodiversity – to protect natural habitats, create or expand ecosystems and promote nature’s recovery.

Partnership working is encouraged.

The deadline to apply is noon on 15 June 2022.

 

How To Apply

There is a two-stage application process:

  • Expression of Interest: deadline noon on 15 June 2022.
  • Full application: deadline noon on 9 September 2022.

Notifications are expected in November 2022.
