Business Grants Launched for Marginalised Entrepreneurs

Business, Enterprise and Regeneration

18 July 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Grants are available for UK based entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups to help them start-up and grow a business.

Administered by Hatch Enterprise, the New Founder Programme is designed to help budding entrepreneurs from underrepresented backgrounds start and grow their businesses into sustainable enterprises that have a positive, long-lasting impact on their communities.

Within the programme, the Incubator initiative helps participants to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to turn a business into a career. With expert level masterclasses, peer-to-peer learning, support from a mentor and the chance to pitch to a panel of ‘dragons’, this programme aims to help participants take their early-stage business to the next level.

Graduates of the Incubator programme can now apply for a grant of up to £5,000. The grant can be used to explore new markets, increase trading, build capacity or better measure impact.

Hatch programmes are for entrepreneurs based in the UK. The funder welcomes and prioritises applications from underrepresented groups, including Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority founders, women and other marginalised genders, disabled founders, and LGBTQIA+ founders.

Grantees will be selected based on the impact the funding will have on their business, as well as the social and environmental outputs of the project. Applicants should have a minimum viable product, have started trading or have a business background.

The deadline for grant applications is 5 September 2022.
