Competition Launched for Zero Emission Powered Light Vehicles Feasibility Studies

Grant funding is available to SMEs and micro businesses in the UK for research and/or preliminary investigation activities for innovative vehicle technologies.

Through the Zero Emission Powered Light Vehicles (PLV) Feasibility Studies Competition, grants are provided for UK businesses active in the niche vehicle technology sector. The funds will help businesses to undertake research aimed at supporting the accelerated development of innovative technologies applicable to road going PLVs.

Grants of up to £35,000 are on offer for three-month projects. Areas for investigation could include the following on-board vehicle technology themes:

  • Electric machines and power electronics.
  • On board energy storage and energy management systems.
  • Fuel cells.
  • Lightweight vehicle body, chassis and powertrain structures.
  • Aerodynamics for improved energy efficiency.

Applications are invited from SMEs or micro businesses active in the niche vehicle technology sector, including niche vehicle manufacturers, system suppliers and design/engineering or technology organisations, based in the UK.

The deadline for applications to be submitted is 17 October 2022.
