DCMS Inviting Applications for an Intermediary Grant Maker for £14m Funding Programme

Health & Social Welfare

15 August 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

The grant maker will deliver a scheme to fund projects which promote volunteering and tackle loneliness in areas of high deprivation.

Know Your Neighbourhood is a new government fund launching this year to support place-based interventions which increase regular volunteering opportunities and address chronic loneliness across England.

Applications are now being accepted for an intermediary grant maker to deliver and administrate the grants programme.

Grant making organisations such as charitable trusts or foundations, philanthropic organisations and arms-length bodies can apply for this opportunity. In addition, consortium bids are welcomed as long as a lead applicant is appointed.

It is desirable that applicants can bring:

  • Experience and knowledge of delivering/funding interventions specifically focused on increasing volunteering opportunities and/or tackling loneliness, or partnering with organisations who have this experience and knowledge.
  • Experience of building and/or working in partnerships across sectors at a local level, and experience of community engagement to ensure user voices are represented in plans.
  • Cash match-funds or in-kind contributions. There is a preference for any cash match to extend the life of the programme.

The organisation must ensure that funds are directed to high-deprivation areas within eligible local authority areas. A list of the KYN Fund's 27 eligible local authorities can be found on the DCMS website.

There will be an online Q&A on 31 August from 10.30am to 11.30am.

The deadline to apply is 10am on 29 September 2022.
