Charities and organisations across Northwest England can apply for funding to deliver projects and activities that ensure vulnerable individuals and communities are supported in the event of a power cut.

Electricity Northwest is offering grants and support to charities and organisations across Northwest England to develop partnerships that support vulnerable individuals and communities in the event of a power cut and address the following priorities: 

• Keeping customers safe in a power cut by registering all eligible households to the Extra Care register. 
• Under the needs of communities through a network of experienced partners. 
• Building trust around Electricity Northwest’s Extra Care register and services. 
• Strengthening services through partner-led insights, data sharing, and advancements. 

Through the Partnership Fund, a total of £1.75 million is available for organisations to help identify and support households that may need extra support during a power cut, such as those with medical dependencies, children under the age of five, or those of pensionable age. 

Funding can be used to support both new and pre-existing activities, such as: 

• Support for individuals or communities that face increased demands and challenges as a direct result of the cost-of-living crisis. 
• Enable individuals to become more energy sufficient, especially those seldomly heard voices or those at risk of being left behind during the energy transition. 
• Support for vulnerable people to reduce their impact on the environment. 
• Bringing together communities, either by area or shared experiences. 

Priority will be given to organisations based or operating in Greater Manchester. 

The deadline for applications is 31 March 2023.

The fund may close sooner than expected if all funding is allocated.
