Fund for Green Tech Start-ups Invites New Applications

Energy, Environment & Climate

14 November 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Support is available for 'cleantech' start-up businesses from across the country that seek to utilise technology to restore environmental balance and biodiversity, and to tackle global warming.

Through the GreenTech Fund, Simmons & Simmons wants to tackle the climate crisis by encouraging innovative solutions from around the world. The Fund is seeking emerging green tech start-ups that are focused on using technology to mitigate the climate and biodiversity emergencies.

The initiative is being led by members of the firm's environmental sustainability network, and involves a collaboration with a number of investors, accelerators and incubators who have a particular focus on sustainability.

The fund will award £100,000 of legal support from across Simmons' network to four businesses that are innovating in an attempt to halt and reverse the climate crisis. Support will be tailored to the specific needs of each organisation.

Applications are invited from emerging 'climatetech' and 'cleantech' organisations. These 'green' start-ups are defined as businesses using technology to mitigate, adapt, or reverse the effects human activity has on the environment.

Businesses should be founded for a sustainability-related purpose, for example reducing CO2 emissions or pollution, minimising waste or protecting the world's ecosystems.

The deadline to apply is 15 January 2023.
