Government Launches Phase 9 of the Energy Entrepreneurs Fund

Energy, Environment & Climate

28 March 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

£10 million is available for the UK’s energy entrepreneurs to realise their ambitions for new energy efficiency, power generation and storage technologies.

The Energy Entrepreneurs Fund (EEF) is a competitive funding scheme which supports the development and demonstration of state-of-the art technologies, products and processes in the areas of:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Power generation
  • Heat generation
  • Energy storage
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Security of supply

The Fund seeks the best ideas, irrespective of source, across the above mentioned energy technology areas from the public and private sector.

Up to £10 million in grant funding available is available through EEF phase 9, supporting between 15 and 20 projects, with each successful bidder receiving up to £1 million. The maximum total value for each project must not exceed £2.5 million.

The scheme particularly aims to assist UK based small and medium-sized enterprises, including start-ups, and those companies that are selected will receive additional funding for incubation support.

Energy Minister Greg Hands said:

'The Energy Entrepreneurs Fund is backing the next generation of inventors and innovators to drive forward cheap and reliable low-carbon technologies, create jobs and reduce our reliance on expensive fossil fuels.'

The deadline for applications is 11 May 2022 (14:00 BST).

How To Apply

Phase 9 of the Energy Entrepreneurs Fund is now open for applications until 11 May 2022 (14:00 BST).

During the application process, applicants will be expected to demonstrate a robust evidence-based case for funding.
