Grants to Reduce Barriers to Driving for Disabled People

Health & Social Welfare

17 August 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Funding for projects which improve accessibility of private transport in the UK.

Motability is now inviting applications for its next large grants programme, offering between £100,000 and £2 million over one, two or three years.

The following can be funded under the scheme:

  • Activity which reduces or mitigates barriers to driving experienced by disabled people, without replicating the support offered by the Motability Scheme.
  • Continuation funding for schemes, programmes and initiatives that already exist, and who provide best practice solutions, but need further support to remain operational or scale up the service they can provide to help more disabled people.
  • Staff or volunteer training and costs.
  • Full cost recovery grants which include indirect costs.

Applications will be accepted from medium or large charities and other charitable organisations with established ways of working.

Groups must have been active for at least three years, with an annual income of at least £150,000 and between three and twelve months of reserves.

Priority will be given to organisations with an established way of working that makes a demonstrable difference to the lives of disabled people.

Applications can be made at any time.

How To Apply

Applications may be submitted at any time.

There is a two-stage application process:

  • Stage One application form - decisions expected within around four weeks.
  • Stage Two application form - issued to successful applicants, with a timeframe for decisions confirmed by a member of the Grants Team.

Full guidelines and the Stage One application form can be found on the Motability website.
