Innovate UK Launches Transformative Technologies Competition

Digital & Technology

21 February 2023/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

UK small and micro businesses can access grants for projects in the field of affordable, adoptable and investable innovations in transformative technologies.

The aim of this Innovate UK (IUK) competition is to provide a package of targeted support to enable ambitious UK micro and small businesses in transformative technologies to reach their potential.

Innovations must lead to new products, processes or services that are significantly ahead of others currently available, or propose an innovative use of existing products, processes or services. It can also involve a new or innovative business model.

Projects must focus on how applicants can enable affordable, adoptable and investable innovations for:

  • Semiconductors
  • Future telecoms
  • AI assurance
  • Engineering biology
  • Quantum
  • Sustainable UK materials and manufacturing

IUK has allocated up to £20 million to fund innovation projects in this competition. Each eligible business can apply for a grant of between £25,000 and £50,000. In addition to the grant support, applicants will be offered tailored business support delivered by Innovate UK EDGE.

The competition is open to single applicants only. To lead a project an organisation must be a UK registered micro or small business. If the business has been funded by IUK previously, it is not eligible to apply for this competition.

The deadline for applications is 29 March 2023 (23:00 BST).

How To Apply

The programme opened on 20 February 2023. The deadline for applications is 29 March 2023 (23:00 BST).
