International Programme Invites Applications for Sustainable Fashion and Textiles R&D Projects

Arts, Culture and Heritage

17 January 2023/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Funding is available to design entrepreneurs and SMEs from UK and Official Development Assistance (ODA) countries to foster new ideas that will help shape the future of sustainable fashion, apparel and textiles.

Following a successful pilot programme in 2022, the next round of the New Landscapes: Catalyst Research & Development Grant Scheme is inviting applications.

The scheme, which has a total value of £120,000, will provide five collaborative grants of up to £6,000 cash and up to £15,000 in-kind support to proposals that:

  • Grow global networks to enable development of practice, experimentation and testing of sustainable design and production solutions that inspire positive environmental change.
  • Support small and medium-sized enterprises to exchange methods of designing and producing in a more sustainable and socially engaged way.
  • Support young designers to become advocates for sustainable, ethical and socially engaged fashion, textiles and related technologies.

The second round of applications is open to designers, design entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises from UK and Official Development Assistance (ODA) countries.

Applications must be a partnership between at least one UK applicant and a maximum of two co-applicants, based in one or more ODA country. The following criteria apply:

  • The lead applicant must be based in the UK and have been in business for at least three years.
  • Applicants must provide evidence of true collaboration, knowledge exchange and mutual benefit for all partners (including ODA countries) in their application.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to deliver the project activity between April 2023 to August 2023.
  • Successful applicants are expected to host a public event presenting their research and findings following the grant scheme in 2023.

It is anticipated that at least one grant will be awarded to an existing partnership supported through phase I of the initiative to scale up and build on the success of the project(s) already delivered.

The deadline for proposal submissions is 6 February 2023 (23:59 GMT).
